Introduction

Biotechnology is a science that has been in steadily progress over the last few years which in terms of science or technology production and in the main, wealth production is superior to other modern and traditional sciences. The modern biotechnology which is based on the genetic engineering of creatures is focused on the same goal of producing new products, increasing the efficiency of existing products, and creating wealth with biotechnological innovations.

Since 2000, practical steps have been taken to establish a research and development center for biotechnology. Finally, the center, affiliated with Tarbiat Modares University, was established on October 2, 2004 with a formal authorization from the Supreme Council of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology. On December 15, 2007, the center was able to obtain final approval.

Starting executive activities

Since 2000, in order to keep track of the activities of the center, the center?s secretariat was established at the Faculty of Medical Sciences No. 1. Among the organizational activities of the center was the establishment of its Research Council in 2004 with four administrators of Biotechnology groups from the Faculties of Medicine, Basic Sciences, Agriculture and Industrial Biotechnology designated by the head of the university at the time.
In addition, since 2004, the Biotechnology Award, which until then was awarded by the Biotechnology Council of the University, was entrusted to the center. Also, the statute of this center was approved by the Board of Trustees of the University on May 22, 2004 and in accordance with Article 11 of the Centers Articles of Association, the Research Council including the Head of the Center, the Centers Deputy Director and Heads of Research Groups, as well as 2 to 5 members of the faculty appointed by members of the University Biotechnology Council replaced the University Biotechnology Council on the basis of the following paragraph of this article.
For this reason since mid-2004, all decisions taken in relation to the activities of the university in the field of Biotechnology have been based on the vote of the research council of the center.

The council consists of faculty members of the four faculties of masters and Ph.D courses in Biotechnology. They are as follows:
