    Abstract

Introduction: Infections by multidrug resistant Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MDR-TB) is a major public health challenge. Secretion of proteins by M. tuberculosis plays an important role in the pathogenesis of the bacterium. We compared the protein profiles of susceptible M. tuberculosis and MDR-TB isolates using proteomic analyses, namely two dimensional gel electrophoresis (2DE) and mass spectrometry (MS). Methods: The bacilli were cultured on Middlebrook 7H9 medium and bacterial colonies were mechanically disrupted and proteins were extracted by ammonium sulfate. The 2DE and MS analyses were performed using Ettan IP Gphor 3 isoelecteric system and Autoflex II TOF/TOF, respectively. Results: Our study showed that in comparison to the sensit

Osteoporosis is a major public health priority in Iran and throughout the world. The prevention of osteoporosis has recently become the ultimate goal of many health professionals. Behavior change is one of the most powerful strategies to prevent osteoporosis. This study aimed to determine the predictive construct of physical preventive behavior of osteoporosis in women aged 30-50 in Khorramabad, west of Iran. This study included 269 women selected from all the health centers of Khorramabad city according to the inclusion criteria of the study and through random cluster and systematic sampling. The data gathering tools were valid and reliable questionnaires of demographic information, stages of change, decisional balance, self-efficacy, and

Utilizing self reporting tools has been rather controversial while talking on children physical activity assessment. Present study assesses children’s PA using a self-report checklist and compares it with parent-report method. Methods: In this study that evaluates PA of children using a self-report tool and compares it with the parent-report one, the self-report tool was utilized on 300 grade 5 and 6 students that were selected through multi-stage sampling method. The compiled data were compared with those of parent-reported results. Results: The mean Vigorous physical activity (VPA), Moderate Physical Activity (MPA), and Energy Consumption (Metabolic Eq

    Abstract

Introduction: Tuberculosis (TB) remains a deadly infectious disease despite all the efforts to reduce its incidence. Spread of multidrug resistant TB has seriously undermined the efforts to control the disease globally. In this study protein expression profile of MDR and sensitive isolates of MTB were analyzed and compared in order to identify proteins, which could be used in prevention, diagnosis and treatment. Methods: A sensitive and MDR isolate of Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB) were cultured on Middlebrook 7H9 medium and the whole cell lysates were subjected to native polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (NPAGE) for protein expression profiling. Protein bands present in the MDR cell lysate that were not detected in the sensitive cell ly
