    Journal PapersQuarterly Journal of Quantitative Economics , 2021 February 13, {Pages }

    Abstract

    Fossil fuels and the process of their exploitation and consumption have led to serious challenges and concerns in the field of energy and environmental issues. These challenges include; the security of supplying these fuels, the depletion of its resources and most importantly their impact on environmental pollutants and global warming. Therefore, providing practical solutions and adopting optimal policies in this field are necessary. The development of using renewable energies that are compatible with nature and the environment, producing less air pollution and are not terminate in the near future, can be the most important option to resolve this crisis. There are different tools to encourage replacing the fossil fuels with renewable energi

    Abstract

    ubjective Well-Being (SWB) is a broad category of phenomena that includes people’s emotional responses, domain satisfactions, and global judgments of life satisfaction [1, 2]. SWB refers to how people experience and evaluate their lives. In other words, SWB is a person’s cognitive and emotional evaluations of his life [3, 4]. SWB has long been the subject matter of works in the fields of psychology and sociology studies, then it expanded to studies on human geography, urban and regional studies, and economics. Easterlin (1974) grounded the issue of the relationship between economics indices and well-being on the empirical analysis of self-reported data on SWB or happiness [5]. The literature uses different labels for happiness: well-bei

    Journal PapersIranian Economic Review , 2020 May 17, {Pages }

    Abstract

    Reclassification risk is a downside for the insurance applicants in the face of a sharp increase in premiums due to the deterioration of individual health conditions. Guaranteed renewable (GR) health insurance directly protects the applicants against the mentioned risk. The reason for this support is the existence of a prepayment in the first insurance premium. Instead, the premiums in the next years are independent of the applicant’s future health. The current study aimed at evaluating the effect of providing this new insurance policy in the health insurance market of Iran on economic welfare of health insurance applicants. This evaluation was conducted in the form of two hypotheses, including "provision of GR insurance along with other

    Sustainable development and openness in oil-exporting countries: green growth and brown growth

    Journal PapersJournal of Economic Structures , Volume 9 , 2020 December , {Pages 19-Jan }

    Abstract

    What is the nexus between sustainability and openness? This study employs econometric methods to estimate a neoclassical growth model, considering brown and green growth as two pillars of sustainability, in ten oil-exporting countries during 1990–2012. Based on the results, the nexus is non-linear and U-shaped, depending on the level of openness. From the green growth viewpoint, the current relationship of sustainability with openness is negative in the sample, but it becomes positive in the higher levels of openness. From the brown growth perspective, not only the current relationship of openness with sustainability is positive, but also it can become stronger in the higher level of openness. They are proofs for the openness acting as a

    Journal PapersIranian Journal of Health Sciences , 2020 December 2, {Pages }

    Abstract

    Background: Supplier-induced demand (SID) refers to the concept that healthcare providers may deliver services to patients that are not medically necessary. An estimation of the extent to which this event has occurred can be insightful for policymaking and guiding health systems. This study aimed to investigate the extent to which SID presents itself during diagnostic MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) for primary breast cancer.Methods: In this cross-sectional study, data were obtained using questionnaires from a random sample of 310 cases. To identify patients who were candidates for undergoing a necessary diagnostic MRI, we employed the international clinical guidelines with the confirmation of our expert panelists. With their assistance, a

    Journal Papers , Volume 13 , Issue 11, 2020 November 30, {Pages }

    Abstract

    Context: Supplier-induced demand (SID) is an essential concept in health economics related to the diagnosis of different types of cancer and related expenditures. The current review considered studies on induced demand in cancer diagnosis. Evidence Acquisition: This systematic review investigated the induced diagnosis of cancer in four well-known databases (Scopus, Science Direct, Web of Science, and PubMed) from January 1980 to July 2019 using the keywords “induced demand,” “cancer,” and “diagnosis”. References of the studies found through the original search were also considered for analysis. Results: No studies focused on SID in cancer diagnosis could be found, thus indicating a significant deficiency in the discussion of SID

    Evaluating the Factors Affecting Food Security in Kermanshah province (Application of Quantile Regression Technique)

    Journal PapersAgricultural Economics Research , Volume 12 , Issue 45, 2020 April 20, {Pages 181-202 }

    Abstract

    Today, with the spread of inequality in different parts of the world, societies face uncertainty about the needs of life, one of them is food security. Iran is considered as a high-risk region, and the difference in food security across the provinces of the country is widely visible.. In the present study, FSI index and Quantile Regression method were used in the years 1979-2017 based on two scenarios to study Food Security in Kermanshah Province. The results of this study indicate that in both scenarios, Food Security in Kermanshah province is directly related to calorie per capita, annual calorie per capita growth, food production index, self-sufficiency index, and indirectly to consumption changes. But the amount and intensity of the rel

    Journal PapersInternational Journal of Energy Economics and Policy , Volume 9 , Issue 2, 2019 February 14, {Pages 381-389 }

    Abstract

    The low economic growth and lack of qualified institutions have led to a lower level of health in the resource-rich developing countries. This paper explores the effects of resource rent, human capital and government effectiveness on government health expenditure in Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC). It uses Panel Fully Modified Least Squares (Panel-FMOLS) method in Eviews software over the period 2002–2015. Findings imply that the resource rent, human development index and government effectiveness influence directly the government expenditure on health, when the interactions between explanatory variables are ignored. However, the sign and magnitude of coefficients are changed, when interaction terms are included in

    Abstract

    Abstract roductivity promotion has received a key attention in contemporary macroeconomic analysis. Productivity of labor driven, in particular, by human capital (ie health and education), is seen vitally more important. Labor qualities in terms of health and education (treated as flow and stock variables), have a bearing on labor productivity. The main objective of this paper is to identify the influence on productivity of health and education and delineate their relative impact, using a composite approach to human capital. Towards this end, an Autoregressive-Distributed Lag (ARDL) technique was applied to measure labor productivity over the period 1974-2014. Based on the result of model findings, attempt was made to evaluate their short a

    Abstract

    The relationship between human capital and labor productivity is always important for economists. Considering the relationship between these two will also be remarkable in microeconomic studies. Meanwhile, the impact of different dimensions of human capital on labor productivity can be a measure of actual effect of human capital on productivity. The aim of this paper is to examine the effects of various dimensions of human capital (education, health, and experience), on labor productivity based on individual characteristics in Iranian economy. We use micro data (Cost–Income Survey of Urban Areas - 2013) and estimation of Quantile Regression (QR) econometric technique.? For this purpose, net income (wage and salary) for employment in priva

    Abstract

    Expansion of financial markets including capital market is a key factor in increasing investment, which affects significantly the economic growth and development. Any change in monetary policy will influence real sector of economy, prices and returns on stocks. The performance of stock market is of considerable effect on macro economy, and plays substantial role in the monetary policy transmission process. In this paper, we examine the effect of monetary policy on the stock market using a five-variable structural vector auto-regressive model by applying monthly data during March 2005 to March 2013. The results suggest that the monetary policy through liquidity and loans directed to private sector is of significantly positive effect on the s

    Abstract

    Background:Two years after the implementation of the Health Sector Evolution Plan (HSEP), this study evaluated the effects of the plan on health equity indices.Methods:The main indices assessed by the study were the Out-of-Pocket (OOP) health expenditures, the Fairness in Financial Contribution (FFC) to the health system index, the index of households’ Catastrophic Health Expenditure (CHE) and the headcount ratio of Impoverishing Health Expenditure (IHE).Results:The per capita share of costs for total health services has been decreased. The lowered costs have been more felt in rural areas, generally due to sharp decrease in inpatient costs. Per capita pay for outpatient services is almost constant or has slightly increased.
