Discovery of a new insect species by the researchers of TMU


This new insect discovered by the researchers of Faculty of Agriculture was found in Hormozgan Province of Iran and Florida State of U.S. The finding of this research was published in the Zoological Journal of the Linnean Society which enjoys an impact factor of 2.711. These newly-discovered ticks are the specialized parasites of aquatic beetles of Dytiscidae Family.

This new and highly valued discovery once again indicates Iran's rich ecological and biodiversity climate.

This paper was based on the doctoral thesis of Mortazavi, a Ph.D candidate of entomology at TMU supervised by Dr. Haji Ghanbar. Dr. Lindquist, a well-known Canadian Researcher has also cooperated in this project.
